4 Tips to Buying Your Child’s First Car

Many parents choose a Honda as their child’s first carShopping around for the perfect used car can feel stressful for anyone out there. There are so many options, and if every detail isn’t checked, it can be like throwing money away. This is one of the main reasons why so many people choose to purchase a Honda as their child’s first car when shopping at car dealerships in Los Angeles. Hondas are fantastic on gas mileage.  Many can last for well over 200,000 miles, and most are easy to repair. Here are some things everyone should consider when buying a Honda or other used car.

Dealer Certified

A used car that has been dealer certified comes with its own warranty and has passed a detailed safety inspection test. Cars of this type are an excellent choice because they are in great shape, and can last for many years after they have been purchased. Shoppers typically love purchasing vehicles that have been dealer certified because they can acquire a used car that provides “like-new” condition without having to worry about losing a warranty.

Vehicle History Reports

Whenever anyone is buying a used car from one of the many car dealerships in Los Angeles, one of the first things he or she should require is a vehicle history report. Most people are aware of these reports because of the popular CarFax commercials. Vehicle history reports detail any reported accidents or services done to the vehicle. Many dealerships provide these for free so the buyer can be confident that the vehicle has been properly maintained.

Used Car Mileage

Shopping for a used car can often be tough because many people are not sure how many miles should be on the vehicle that they choose. Buyers believe that the lower the mileage, the better deal. However, this always comes with a higher price tag.  Regardless of the age, experts suggest that the car being chosen  has around 15,000 miles for each year of its age. This means that if someone finds a car that is 10 years old, mileage of around 150,000 is acceptable.

 Used Car Benefits

As seen above, there are so many factors a person needs to check when purchasing his or her first used car. Things like vehicle history, mileage, and certifications all need to be taken into consideration. However, once a used car is purchased, there are many benefits that come along with it. The price is far cheaper than purchasing a vehicle brand new. The value of a new car drops drastically as soon as it comes off the lot. Additionally, used cars often come along with warranties, just in case any major repairs are needed. All in all, purchasing a used car is a fantastic option that should benefit the buyer for many years to come.
